HIREDTexas Career Action Teams
The Career Action Team is an effective way to manage your job search with the support of a group of people looking for positions at a similar level to yours. You will have common questions, concerns, and needs in your individual searches.
Career Action Teams meet weekly.
The Career Action Team requires a commitment
- to yourself,
- to your accountability partner on the team,
- and the team as a whole.
You will be expected to report on your progress to your team on a weekly basis. You will also have the opportunity to raise and discuss topics of general interest that are directed at the job search.
It is not appropriate for someone who is not willing or able to make this commitment. When you join a team you are expected to work on your marketing materials and work your plan. Help with these items is provided by HIREDTexas Forums.

Once you've started a draft marketing plan you may join a team. You should know what you're looking for, but not necessarily have all the details.
When you are ready,
- you can visit any of the teams,
- observe one or two of their meetings,
- decide if you want to use the Career Action Team format,
- and if that team is right for you.
Visit as many teams as you need to find the right one for you. Team size is limited to 12 participants to keep the meetings manageable. If teams are full, a waiting list will be started. People on the waiting list will be admitted as current members return to work. So far this has not been necessary as team members land jobs and open slots for new members on a regular basis.
This program utilizes the book The Unwritten Rules of A Highly Effective Job Search by Orville Pierson. This book is available at Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Half Price Books and local retailers.
