HIREDTexas has identified a number of resources that we use in our Career Action Teams and Forums. Those resources are gathered here to make them easier to find.
Career Action Team Supporting Materials
If you're interested in our Career Action Teams you'll want to review these items.
The Brochure and Process Guide outline how the teams work. The contract becomes your signed agreement to abide by the rules.
The Introductory Questionnaire helps the team facilitors assess your readiness to join and participate in a meaningful way. If you're not ready, this helps the facilitators identify the specific areas where you need to focus some extra effort to make yourself ready and point you to the resources you need.
Career Exploration & Assessment
Several sites and assessment materials are used in our Career Assessment Forum.
This includes the Personal Branding Framework, our instruction manual, and Workbook to track your results.
We recommend Photofeeler to test the headshots you want to use in your profile to see if the message people are seeing is the right one for you.
We like Create Your Wordle to create word clouds from job descriptions you want to apply for to see what keywords need to be in your LinkedIn profile and resume.
You can also use Wordcounter or Word Counter Online to get a simple count of the most used words in a job description. Similar to a work cloud, but meant to help you avoid overuse of your favorite words rather than creating graphics that help emphasize the most important words.
Your marketing plans helps define the opportunities you want to explore, and the ones you want to ignore.
CareerSherpa has a nice example marketing plan to help guide you in filling out your own.
We have an editable Microsoft Word version marketing plan template you can use to fill out your own plan. The format is less important than the content, so if you prefer a different format, feel free to use something else.
